Strike ends after city staff and council ratify deal

The strike is over. The City of Cornwall has reached an agreement with the union representing striking city workers.

At a meeting yesterday, council ratified an agreement with the city’s paramedics, library staff, and inside and outside workers.  CUPE members voted 93 percent in favour of the new deal earlier in the day.

Employees go back to work today. The Aquatic Centre, Richelieu Day Care, and the Winchester satellite office of Social Housing will re-open tomorrow.
