There’s an old saying that “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” The City of Cornwall is about to put that to the test!
This Sunday, the city is trying out its first ‘Trash to Treasure Day.’ But what does that mean? Well it’s simple. Anyone who lives in Cornwall can drag something they’re getting rid of out to the curb after 7 am. Then, anyone who wants to pick it up for free can just come and grab it! It’s really easy.
But, there are some ground rules to all of this:
- This is strictly for free stuff. So, if you’re trying to sell something and you drag it out to the curb on Sunday hoping it will catch someone’s eye, and then they take it thinking it was free, then you’re the only person to blame.
- You are not allowed to give away mattresses, hazardous waste, or food. I don’t know why but it’s a rule.
- If nobody wants the thing you are trying to give away, you have to bring it back in. And then accept that you probably shouldn’t have bought it in the first place.
This is an awesome event, because you’ll never believe what some people give away for free. My dad taught me the trick of always checking the free section on Kijiji. (SIDENOTE: If you are using the free section on Kijiji, you have to refer to it as Freejiji henceforth.) But anyways, these are some of the things people are currently giving away for free in Cornwall:
So as you can see, you might just strike gold if you head out on Sunday for the first ever ‘Trash to Treasure Day’! Who knows what you might find!
