Have you ever travelled somewhere to see a tourist attraction, like the Eiffel Tower of the Great Wall of China, and walked away disappointed? Sometimes, these amazing things we’ve heard so much about just can’t live up to the hype.
Well, if you were planning to visit Cornwall’s sister region in the UK, you will definitely not be disappointed by what you’ll find in the town of Bude! That’s because its top-rated tourist attraction on Trip Advisor is this walking tunnel next to a grocery store!
This is not a joke, nor is it a drill. The tunnel has a 4.5 star rating, and is the single highest rated attraction in the town! This is how it’s described on Trip Advisor:
The only tunnel Bude has to offer is open to the public free of charge, walk from the Sainsbury’s car park to Crooklets Road completely undercover, protected from the elements whilst maintaining your view to the spectacular surroundings of Bude. Consisting of 36 metal arches and over 70m long, nowhere else in Bude can you walk this far undercover in a continuous straight line, all ages are welcome.
And the reviews are amazing too!
It even has its own Facebook page with over 300 members. Of course the town itself had to take note….
So, I think this serves as a reminder to those who say there’s not enough to do in Cornwall and SD&G that there really, really is. Our top 5 tourist attractions are St. Raphael’s Ruins, St. Lawrence Power Development Plant, the Waterfront Trail, the Historic SD&G Jail, and Rurban Brewing. These are all awesome things to do… and way cooler than a plastic walking tunnel.
