Some researchers are trying to get Ontario slang into the Oxford dictionary!

Every region has it’s own slang, and Ontario is no different. But isn’t it about time that OUR words make it into the Oxford Dictionary? Some researchers think so!

Researchers from the University of Toronto are asking for the most common slang terms in Ontario to add to their list in the hopes they officially get added to the dictionary! So far, they’ve got:

  • Scuzzy
  • A little ways
  • Bush party
  • Mickey
  • Grade thirteen
  • Chirp
  • Minor’s Mouth
  • Civic Holiday
  • Yous
  • Zoned out
  • ETC

They want to submit their words to the Oxford dictionary for approval by later this year… but they’re still looking for more! If you have any you want to add, click here.
